Uzbekistan Football Federation Demands Explanation for VAR Errors

The Uzbekistan Professional Football League has appealed to the Uzbekistan Football Federation due to errors made by referees and the VAR system. Additionally, they have demanded that Rustam Lutfullin be suspended from officiating in the Super League, Pro League, and the Uzbekistan Cup.

“What surprised us was that in the 78th minute of the 'Qo'qon-1912' - 'Nasaf' match, the chief referee Rustam Lutfullin initially made the correct decision and continued the game. Later, the VAR referee Ibrahim Ismoilov suggested reviewing the situation again. In the end, the referee changed his decision. However, on the same day, the Expert Referees Group reacted quickly to the situation and noted that the VAR had wrongly called the chief referee, and also that the chief referee had made an incorrect decision”, — continued the League leader.

“In the last season's Super League 15th round match between 'Dinamo' and 'Nasaf', a similar situation occurred, and then Rustam Lutfullin also awarded a questionable penalty to 'Nasaf'. It should be noted that the match was not broadcast due to a technical issue, and naturally, the VAR system could not be used. The League refrained from blaming the referee for this situation. But when similar situations occur in subsequent matches from different angles, and the referees still make incorrect decisions, what is the point of the VAR function?
