Portugal's captain and striker Cristiano Ronaldo has set a record as the oldest player to feature in the World Cup playoffs.
On the day of the round of 16 match against Croatia, Ronaldo was 41 years and 148 days old, thus breaking the record of English legend Peter Shilton (40 years and 292 days). Additionally, Croatian midfielder Luka Modrić (40 years and 297 days) also surpassed Shilton in this regard.
It's worth noting that Ronaldo played in all three group stage matches of the '2026 World Cup' and scored two goals.
