Mourinho Appoints New Captain for Real Madrid
Federico Valverde is expected to become the new captain of Real Madrid after Daniel Carvajal's departure.

Real Madrid and Uruguay midfielder Federico Valverde is set to become the club's new captain. According to Marca, Valverde will take over the armband after Daniel Carvajal's departure.
Sources indicate that Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho has no doubts about Valverde's future at the club, even after a disappointing World Cup campaign in 2026. The Portuguese manager plans to include Valverde in the starting lineup from the beginning of the pre-season training in mid-July and is scheduled to have a personal conversation with the player beforehand.

The club management and coaching staff also believe that Valverde will take on the leadership responsibilities within the team after Carvajal's departure. He is expected to be a role model for other players both on and off the pitch.
Federico Valverde has been part of the Real Madrid system since 2016. Last season, he played 49 games for the club, scoring nine goals.
