Mash'al Ends Winless Streak with Victory in Uzbekistan Cup

The Uzbekistan Cup 'C' group stage has concluded its third and final round of matches. Mash'al, who had been on a winless streak in the Super League, has finally broken the curse with a win in the last round.

Although the team had lost the first two rounds and was out of the group, they managed to pull off a stunning victory against Respublika FA in the final round.

Mash'al

After the match, Mash'al head coach Eldor Sakaev and Respublika FA assistant coach Baxtiyor Umarov shared their thoughts.

Eldor Sakaev: "Thank God, I had said earlier that the streak would end someday. Finally, we won our first match in the 14th game. The players were mentally struggling. Now we're going on a break. We thank the boys for the win. It was a good game against a good opponent. Our team showed its potential and the win worked in our favor, giving us hope. We can learn from every match. Now we'll focus on the championship games. We've made plans for the second round."

Baxtiyor Umarov: "We made two critical mistakes that led to goals. Our goalkeeper and defender made errors in these situations. However, overall, I think we played better. We were missing six key players who were with the U20 national team for the KAFA tournament, so we had to use our reserve players. It was noticeable that we were playing with them, but they didn't play badly. Nine of our players were born in 2008 and are still in school. They didn't play poorly against a Super League team. We're satisfied with the game, except for the two mistakes."
