US Club Atlanta United Extends Invitation to Uzbekistan National Team
Uzbekistan's national team is preparing for the 2026 World Cup, and Atlanta United has offered their base for training

Uzbekistan's national team is gearing up for their first-ever World Cup appearance. Under the guidance of Fabio Cannavaro, the team will begin their campaign in Mexico but will prepare for their matches in the United States.
The national team will train in Atlanta, where they will play their matches. Atlanta United, the city's representative club, will provide their base for the Uzbek players starting from June 10th.
In this regard, Atlanta United reached out to the Uzbek national team through social media.
'Welcome, Uzbekistan,' the American club said in a statement. 'The Atlanta United training facility will become the national team's official base from June 10th for the duration of the tournament.'
In the 2026 World Cup, Uzbekistan's national team will compete in Group K against Portugal, Colombia, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The Uzbek team will play their first match against Colombia on June 18th at the famous 'Asteca' stadium in Mexico. On June 23rd, they will face Portugal in Houston. This match has garnered significant interest among fans and experts.
The final group stage match will be played against the Democratic Republic of Congo on June 27th at a stadium in Atlanta.

Notably, Atlanta United had previously attempted to sign Uzbek national team captain and top scorer Eldor Shomurodov in the summer of 2024.
At the time, Eldor Shomurodov had returned to 'Roma' from 'Cagliari' on loan. The transfer was delayed due to the formalization of documents.
