Uzbekistan national team defender Abduqodir Husanov has won the English Cup with Manchester City, defeating Chelsea 1-0 in the final.
Husanov started the match and played the full 90 minutes, performing reliably in defense and winning several key one-on-one battles to help Manchester City keep a clean sheet. He received a yellow card in the 56th minute for a foul on Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella.
The only goal of the match was scored in the 71st minute, as Antoine Semenyo converted a cross from Erling Haaland on the right wing.
After conceding the goal, Chelsea increased the pressure and frequently delivered the ball into Manchester City's penalty area, but the Citizens' defense and goalkeeper James Trafford prevented the opponents from equalizing.
This is Manchester City's first English Cup win since 2023. Previously, Pep Guardiola's team had missed out on the title in the last two finals, losing to Manchester United in 2024 and Crystal Palace in 2025.
Abduqodir Husanov has become the first Uzbekistan player to win the English Cup. Earlier, in March 2026, he had also won the English League Cup with Manchester City, defeating Arsenal in the final.
Recall that the 22-year-old footballer joined Manchester City from French club Lens in January 2025.
