Takamoto Katsuta started the opening day of the Swedish Rally in third place, but ended the seven stages with a 2.8-second advantage over Elfyn Evans.

It was a difficult start to the day for Hyundai, with Sami Pajari 22.2 seconds adrift as the Toyota trio dominated the top three.
