Team captain Eldor Shomurodov, who scored one goal in the tournament, shared his thoughts on the team's early exit from the 2026 World Cup. Uzbekistan lost all three matches, failing to earn a single point. Shomurodov reflected on the experience, saying the team has identified its weaknesses and will focus on growth and development.
"We've now seen our weaknesses clearly. We've tested ourselves at the World Cup level, especially in matches against Colombia and Portugal. If we earned 0 points, that's our current state and level. Our main task now is to improve and develop. I apologize to our fans for not being able to make them happy," Shomurodov said, as quoted by "Chempionat" journalist Andrey Pankov.
Previously, Uzbekistan lost 1:3 to both DR Congo and Colombia, and suffered a heavy 0:5 defeat to Portugal.
