Shane Van Gisbergen Targets NASCAR Oval Racing and Chase

Shane Van Gisbergen has revealed he has come to NASCAR to compete on ovals, rather than road courses. He could have continued to contest road courses in Australia's Supercars series.

He believes the reduction in road courses and new regulations in NASCAR are not significant factors for his success. However, with NASCAR reverting to the Chase format for the championship this season, Van Gisbergen now needs to secure a spot through other means.

Simply winning races will not guarantee him a playoff spot; he must now target a position in the Chase.
