Real Madrid may appoint Jose Mourinho as their new head coach, with a reported 15 million euro fee required to secure his services.
Under the leadership of President Florentino Perez, the club is once again working on appointing Jose Mourinho as the team's head coach. However, this time, acquiring the Portuguese specialist may be more expensive for the Madrid side.
A clause in the 63-year-old coach's contract with Benfica initially included a penalty of around 6 million euros. According to this, the amount could be paid within 10 working days after the end of the season to secure Mourinho's release. However, this period ended on Friday, May 29.
Now, according to sources, the amount required to terminate Mourinho's contract with Benfica has increased to 15 million euros.

Mourinho is on the verge of a surprise second return to Madrid. He is expected to take over the team on a three-year contract, replacing Alvaro Arbeloa.
Why didn't Madrid activate the clause?
The question is natural: if Madrid hadn't secured Mourinho in advance, why didn't they use the 6 million euro clause? The answer lies in Perez's unexpected decision to announce presidential elections.
The initiative to bring back Mourinho, who managed the team from 2010 to 2013, was launched by Perez. On April 28, he was mentioned as the main candidate for the next season, with Madrid facing a second consecutive season without trophies and negotiations intensifying.
On May 12, Perez held a rare press conference, defending himself against "enemies within the family" and announcing presidential elections, despite having a mandate until 2029.
Now, 37-year-old entrepreneur Enrique Rikelme, who works in the field of renewable energy, is challenging Perez in the elections scheduled for June 7. Approximately 100,000 club members have the right to vote.
Perez will retain his powers as president during the election campaign - last week, Antonio Rudiger's contract was extended, and work has begun on Mourinho's coaching staff and summer transfer plans.
A source reported that Madrid has not abandoned its intention to bring in Mourinho.
