NBA Chaos: Four Players and Coach Ejected in Pistons-Hornets Brawl

The National Basketball Association (NBA) regular season matchup between the Detroit Pistons and Charlotte Hornets turned into a chaotic scene, with a massive brawl breaking out on the court. The intense and emotional game saw a total of four players and one coach being ejected. Although the Pistons won 110-104, the main focus was on the on-court altercation rather than the result.

The events unfolded in the third quarter when Detroit's young center Jalen Duren was fouled by Charlotte's Moussa Diabate. The situation quickly escalated into a heated exchange between the two players, who came close to head-butting each other. Diabate was restrained by teammates after attempting to hit Duren, but the situation soon involved other players, intensifying the brawl.

Detroit's forward Isaiah Stewart and Charlotte's Miles Bridges got into a face-off, with Stewart grabbing Bridges' neck and landing several punches. The altercation, which lasted around 30 seconds, required intervention from on-court police officers. As a result, Duren, Diabate, Stewart, and Bridges were all ejected from the game. According to referee Jon Gobel, the players were ejected for engaging in physical altercations during a stoppage in play.

After the game, Jalen Duren commented on the situation, saying: "Emotions got the best of us. At the end of the day, we want to play basketball, but situations like this happen. Everyone was playing hard. It's not the first time people have been aggressive towards us and tried to talk trash. Emotions ran high because everyone was competitive. These things happen." Miles Bridges later apologized to fans and the club on his Instagram page, emphasizing that he always has his teammates' backs.

The situation worsened when Charlotte Hornets coach Charles Lee was also ejected in the fourth quarter for expressing his frustration with the referees' decisions and shouting loudly. Lee acknowledged that he lost control: "Two guys got into a heated conversation, and it escalated from there. I probably should have kept my emotions in check a bit better at the time."

In other NBA news, Golden State Warriors star player Steph Curry will miss Sunday's NBA All-Star Game due to a right knee injury. The Warriors hope to have Curry return to action on February 19 against the Boston Celtics after the All-Star break.
