Matt Weston wins gold in skeleton, Team GB's first Winter Olympics medal
British athlete Matt Weston claims gold in skeleton at Milano Cortina Olympics

British athlete Matt Weston has won gold in skeleton at the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics, finishing with a time of 3 minutes 43.33 seconds. He edged out German Axel Jungk by just under a second.
The 28-year-old Weston set the track record at the Cortina Sliding Centre four times during the four-day competition. He becomes the first British man to win an individual gold medal at a Winter Olympics since 1980.
Weston, nicknamed 'Captain 110%' by his teammates, had to skip pre-season training due to a four-inch tear in his right thigh.
