Iran's World Cup Matches to Remain in the US: Mexico Confirms No Relocation
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum confirms that Iran's World Cup 2026 group stage matches will not be relocated from the US to Mexico.

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum confirmed that Iran's national team's World Cup 2026 group stage matches will not be relocated from the US to Mexico.
She emphasized that FIFA has agreed to keep the matches at their originally designated locations.
'FIFA ultimately decided not to relocate the matches from their initial designated locations. Such a move would have required significant logistical efforts from the organization,' Sheinbaum said.
Previously, FIFA President Gianni Infantino had also confirmed Iran's participation in the World Cup.
'Iran will participate in the World Cup. The matches will be held at the scheduled locations. I am pleased with this,' Infantino said.
In March, Iranian Football Federation President Mehdi Taj announced that the issue of relocating the team's matches to Mexico was being discussed with FIFA.
As a reminder, the upcoming World Cup will take place from June 11 to July 19 in the US, Canada, and Mexico.
