The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has launched an investigation into the Argentine Football Federation (AFA) over suspected money laundering and financial irregularities.
According to EasySport, the investigation is being conducted in collaboration with the US federal prosecutor's office. Experts are examining the AFA's commercial activities in the United States, including whether US laws were violated during financial transactions.

According to reports, the investigation is focusing on transactions worth over $300 million, related to sponsorship contracts, media rights sales, and other commercial agreements. The Argentine newspaper La Nación reports that the investigation is also examining the activities of companies involved in managing these revenues.
So far, no official charges have been brought against any individuals, and the investigation is ongoing.
Despite this situation off the field, the investigation has not affected the Argentine national team's participation in the 2026 World Cup. The current world champions continue to fight to defend their title.
