Lando Norris Tops First Day of F1 2026 Bahrain Test
McLaren's Lando Norris edged out Max Verstappen by 0.129s on the first day of the F1 2026 pre-season test in Bahrain.
The F1 2026 pre-season test got underway in Bahrain, with McLaren's Lando Norris setting the pace on the first day. He clocked a time of 1m 34.669s in his MCL40 car.
Norris's advantage became clear in the second half of the day. Oscar Piastri had topped the timesheets in the morning session with 54 laps, but his time of 1m 35.602s was slower than Norris's benchmark.
Red Bull's Max Verstappen posted a competitive time, but it was 0.129s shy of Norris's best effort. Verstappen also completed more laps with his RB team.
