CONMEBOL President Announces 64 Teams to Participate in 2030 World Cup
CONMEBOL President Alexandro Dominges has confirmed that the 2030 World Cup will feature 64 national teams.
The President of the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL), Alexandro Dominges, has announced that the 2030 World Cup will be held with the participation of 64 national teams.
"The next championship will be held in the cradle of football! The 2030 FIFA World Cup will be hosted by Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay. This is a great opportunity to celebrate the centenary of the tournament, with 64 teams participating," Dominges wrote on his social media page.
The 2030 World Cup will be the first to be held simultaneously in six countries. The opening matches will be held in Argentina, Uruguay, and Paraguay to mark the centenary of the tournament, while the main part of the competition will take place in Spain, Portugal, and Morocco.
The 2026 World Cup featured 48 national teams. The current world champions are the Spanish national team.
