14-year-old Turkish grandmaster Yagiz Kaan Erdogmush has become the youngest chess player to break the 2700 rating barrier in classical chess.
During the "Battle of the Generations" series in Monaco from April 12-17, he competed against 51-year-old grandmaster Veselin Topalov. The decisive moment came in the second game — in a complex struggle, Topalov made a serious mistake and lost.
After that, the advantage in the match completely shifted to the young talent: Erdogmush also won the third game, drew the fourth, and eventually won two more games against his opponent. The final score was 5:1.

This result earned Erdogmush 22 rating points, taking him above the 2700 mark. Thus, he became the youngest chess player to achieve this milestone. Previously, this record belonged to Wei Yi, but the Turkish chess player updated it by almost a year.
